Style and Composition
Bowen translates the vibrant, untamed beauty of a wild spring meadow through a richly layered contemporary impressionist approach. The lower two-thirds of the canvas are filled with an expansive field of periwinkle and cobalt-blue blossoms, likely wild forget-me-nots or bluebells.
Rhythmic broken strokes of blue, green, and white create a surface that feels alive with movement. At the far-left edge, a tall white blossom rises above the field, serving as a crisp focal point against the deeper foliage beyond.
Behind the meadow, a dense hedgerow of russet red, burnt orange, and copper creates a strong complementary contrast with the cool blue foreground.
