This plein-air landscape opens onto a sweeping New England mountain vista framed by mature forest. A sunlit ridge road leads toward a solitary golden tree and the distant blue peaks of the White Mountains at peak autumn.
Gallery Description
In Path of Discovery, Byron Carr uses a 24" × 30" horizontal format to create an expansive mountain view. Massive trees frame both sides of the composition, drawing the eye toward the open valley. Across the foreground, a rugged dirt road winds along the ridge in textured passages of raw umber, burnt sienna, and charcoal, scattered with gold, amber, and rust-colored leaves.
At the center, the forest canopy opens onto a luminous mountain pass. A solitary deciduous tree stands along the path on a golden-ochre hillside, its marigold-yellow canopy anchoring the composition.
Beyond it, layers of lavender-gray, periwinkle, and pale cobalt ridges define the northern peaks. A clear cerulean sky and bright midday light cast a soft haze across the valley. Carr’s layered brushwork and controlled edges give the clearing a strong sense of depth, stillness, and discovery.
