Moving beyond traditional realism, the composition centers on a fantastical creature concealed within a dense New England wildflower bed. The lower portion of the page becomes a gestural meadow through fluid wet-on-wet washes of pale sap and olive green, erupting near the baseline into a tapestry of marigold-yellow and crimson wildflower crowns.
