This English burl walnut chest-on-chest, made around 1900, features cornice molding, graduated upper drawers, and reeded canted columns. The lower section offers a pull-out brush and dressing slide, three drawers, with an inlaid fan motif, which is exceptionally valuable and highly collectible.
Two-Part Construction: A true chest-on-chest features a slightly narrower chest of drawers nested securely on top of a wider base chest of drawers
Burled Walnut Veneer: The highly figured, speckled patterns on the drawer fronts are made from premium burl walnut. It is framed with linear "crossbanding" borders around each drawer face
Sunburst Inlay: The bottom drawer features a spectacular semi-circular sunburst or starburst inlay made of contrasting light and dark wood veneer. This is a hallmark motif of early Georgian and Queen Anne cabinetry
Period Hardware: The piece features classic brass batwing escutcheons (the decorative backplates behind the pull handles) and elaborate central keyhole covers.
Bracket Feet: The base rests on shaped bracket feet, which provide a sturdy, architectural anchor for the tall silhouette.
