This magnificent piece is an authentic American Late Victorian Eastlake / Renaissance Revival Walnut Side Table with an Integrated Marble Top, dating to circa 1875–1885.
Although people often group it colloquially with "Gothic" or "Empire" furniture because of its heavy, blocky architecture, the stylized incised lines and geometric finials are textbook characteristics of the American Eastlake movement.

  • White Carrara Marble Top: The table features a beautifully preserved, thick inset rectangular slab of white Carrara marble with light grey veining, finished with a classic beveled edge.
  • Geometric Incised Apron: The central frieze panel features a shallow mock-drawer front heavily decorated with geometric, linear hand-carvings and sharp arrow-like incised details, a hallmark design stamp of Charles Eastlake's reform movement.
  • Turned Socratic Finial Stretcher: The four out-swept, angular cabriole legs are structurally tied together by a curved X-stretcher base. This intersection is crowned by a prominent, hand-turned multi-tiered wood finial (as highlighted in your first detail photo).
  • Incised Knee Medallions: The upper knees of the legs feature rectangular structural blocks, detailed with matching incised lines and a central dot-dash abstract botanical design.
Because Eastlake marble-top tables are highly practical for historic homes—serving perfectly as entry foyer accents, parlor plant stands, or bedroom nightstands.
